Mardi Gras 2007

Well my friends Lachlan and Waz have flown back to Melbourne, so my Mardi Gras is officially over for the year.

Friday the boys arrived and came to my house as they couldn't check into their hotel until 2pm. After a couple of drinks I took them to their hotel where they checked in and then came back to my house. We then headed to Oxford Street for the start of Mardi Gras Madness and I got home at about 2.30 am Saturday morning.

At about 10am the girls downstairs buzzed to say it was time to go to yum cha in chinatown for breakfast. That complete I can home and relaxed until 2:30 when it was time to go and help set up the VIP viewing area of the parade on Taylor Square. Finally finishing up there at around 11pm it was home again for a quick shower and change of clothes before heading to the dance party, gettiing there at about 12.45. I finally managed to find the boys at about 2.30 and had a fantastic time with them and their friends. I must add at this point that it was the first time ever I have been seen in public with my shirt off - one of the boys unbuttoned it and then removed it completely while we were dancing - oh my! We ended up leaving the party at about 7.30am then it was home for me and back to the hotel for the boys.

By about midday Sunday the boys were showered, changed and back at my house ready to head back to Oxford street. Home again a little after midnight for an actual sleep (shock horror).

Up again at about 9am Monday and a phone call from the boys saying they were coming over & we would do brunch as they needed to check out of their hotel. I managed to drink a cup of coffee, eat a slice of toast and push the scrambled eggs to the side of the plate. We then slothed at my house for a few hours before hitting the bars again a little after 2pm.

Dinner was at Betty's Soup Kitchen where I had half a beef and veg pie and some salad. Then back home with the boys for them to collect their bags and then head back to the airport for their flight home.

More photos from my camera phone can be found here...

As for my earlier post about maybe finding a boyfriend at Mardi Gras, well that didn't happen. In fact the only snog I got was from one of Lachlan and Waz's friends as a sympathy snog! :(

Thankfully I have the rest of the week off to recover before heading back to work!

Wow what a new years eve, I think I have finally recovered enough to post

29 Dec: Was collected from the airport by Kal & Dini at about 9:50pm. Went to the supermarket to pick up some nibbles & voddy before heading to their house. Mark who I used to work with at the AppleCentre came over for a couple of drinks and a catch-up as it would be the only time he had to see me. Got to sleep at about 1:30am

30 Dec: Ex-housemate delvaD1 came and picked me up. Went to the supermarket for nibbles & voddy (seeing a theme here yet?) and BBQ supplies then off to his new house and to collect D2. After a tour of their new place, jumped in a cab with them and headed over to asquiasqui and Waz's new house for a BBQ. Lots of sitting out on the balcony in the sun chatting, drinking and eating. At about 10pm got a message from cerion to say he & Tim had arrived in Melb and wanted to go out. Cabbed it to their hotel, then off to The Peel for drinks. Left them at about 1.30am and headed back to Kal & Dini's.

31 Dec: After spending much of the day recovering, we headed to the apartment of some friends of their's at about 9pm for pre-party drinks, then at 11 jumped in cabs to Chasers on Chapel Street and the dance party. The party was great - eeryone seemed to be having an amazing time. Got to hear Murray DJ in one of the rooms. At 7am when the party finished, jumped in the red double-decker bus provided by the organisers and headed to the official recovery party at The Motel in South Melbourne where Murray was DJing for most of the day. Ended up having to leave at about midday as I was exhausted even tho recovery went til 6pm.

1 Jan: Sleep, sleep, sloth, sleep

2 Jan: Sleep, sleep, sloth until about 7pm when Kal & Dini took me back to the airport to fly home. Didn't get to see everyone I wanted to, there never seems to be enough time. Big apologies to [info]3cubed, [info]drewbz, pete, [info]rini_2099, [info]wolf76, zacblog_rssZ and everyone else that I dind't get to see while in town.

3 Jan: back to work

4 Jan: Receive strange email at work supposedly from Sony Australia saying I had won a PSP in an online competition. Strange because there were spelling mistakes in the email and I didn't remember entering a competition. Write the email off as spam and pay no more thout to it

5 Jan: Call from reception at work saying a box was waiting for me. Go and get it & the courier con. note says its from Sony. Open box and inside is a brand new black PSP! Go to EB to see what's available and walk out witha copy of Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories as it was on sale & recommended by the sales guy. What he didn't tell me was that you need a memory stick to save info on as the PSP itself has no internal storage.
