You might wonder why I'm writing a year in review post today rather than at the end of December or the beginning of January. There is a good reason for it being done today.
12 months ago on January 14, 2006 I moved back to Sydney from Melbourne
- Road Trip (Jan 13 2006)
- Alive (Jan 17 2006)
So much has happened in those twelve months.
On January 30 2006 I started my job at XYZnetworks
- Work! (Jan 24 2006)
My car clicked over 100,000KM
- 100,000 (Mar 28 2006)
I have moved house 4 times
- Five Dock (Jan 22 2006)
- Waterloo (Apr 16 2006)
- My parents house (Jul 30 2006)
- Surry Hills (Nov 25 2006)
Stayed at the Radisson Hotel Sydney for 5 weeks for free
- Sydney Photos (Augst 28 2006)
I turned 37
- Another year gone (May 28 2006)
Had a car accident
- Weekend wrapup (Oct 16 2006)
Discovered Effen black cherry vodka
- Effen vodka! (Oct 23 2006)
Got myself a boyfriend
- BF (Dec 18 2006)
And travelled interstate
- Melbourne 3 times (pleasure)
- Adelaide once (work)
So that's it - 12 months in a nutshell (or at least a single LJ post)

On my way to a friends house in Nth Sydney on Friday night, I'd pulled over to check the street directory, figured out where I was, checked and saw a car coming, waited til it passed and pulled out - I just didn't see the car that was directly behind it... Front drivers corner of my car hit her car & damaged both door panels on her car & front bumper & lights on my car. If i'd puled out a second earlier or if she had been going just a bit slower she would have hit the drivers side door, so it's quite lucky both cars were drivable.
Thankfully I have insurance, so it will (only?) cost $450 to pay for the excess.
I have my parents car, but that leaves them carless which is a pain, especially since this coming weekend I will be in Melbourne, which means their car will be in long-term parking at the airport.
After all that drama, I got to my friends house, had vast quantities of vodka, and then we all hit the town. I got back to his place on Sunday, got my car & drove home Sunday afternoon.

It's nice to know Sydney's privately owned & operated toll roads can, as always, cope with weekday peak (Friday 7:45am) traffic.
This is part of the journey to work I pay $8.74 each way ($17.48 per day) for the privilege of using.
Edit: I didn't take a picture, but coming home was the same thing - traffic banked up and slowed to a complete stop in a 100kph zone on the tollway. *sigh*
